Students honored for Academic Letter achievement

AHS juniors and seniors were honored for their academic achievements during the Academic Letter ceremony on Apr. 12 in the AHS gym. Of the 153 students who qualified for one or more letters, 52 attended the ceremony.

Academic letter recipients maintain at least a 3.75 GPA based on an expanded GPA for each semester. Students’ GPAs during both semesters of junior year and the first semester of senior year are taken into consideration for the recognition, giving them three opportunities to letter in high school. Students receive the letter “A” with a Lamp of Learning emblem embroidered on it for the first time they earn a letter; a pin for the second; and a chevron for the third.
