Improv Team entertains with humor, games, audience participation

The Improv show on Friday, Feb. 1 was a lot of fun and a ton of laughs. The team played some crowd favorite games like “Doo Rap,” “Movie Movie Movie,” and “The Dating Game.” Because the games often involve audience participation, the shows are as much fun for those in attendance as they are for the players.

The improv team members said they felt energized, but the boost from having a sold out audience helped a lot with how they performed. The long form game that they played was a lot of fun, including a scene with an epic group dance battle. The show ended with the short form games with lightning rounds called “It's Not You. It's Me” and “Catch Phrase,” which are pun-based games. It was a great way to end the humor-filled night. Kirra Buhagiar, who was in the audience, stated, “I have attended all the Improv shows this year, and this show was one of the best ones.”

The following students are members of AHS’s Improv Team: Kenny Nealey, Payton Raine, Ellie McCall, Mackay Stith, Brendon Haydon, Alex Zavala, Kalin Despain, Caleb Henderson, Annika McNelly, Kirra Buhagiar, Alex Defrega, and Pilar Ortega.

The improv team is always happy to perform and hopes that more people who have yet to see one of the Improv Team’s shows will come to the next one on Mar. 1 at 7 pm in the Black Box Theater on the Atascadero High School campus. Special guest Central Coast Comedy Theater will have their improv ensemble, making that show one no one will want to miss.
