Atascadero High School, Atascadero Middle School, and the after-school elementary choirs put together a beautiful fall choral concert, held at Atascadero Bible Church on Oct. 16 at 6:30 pm. The concert hall was packed; only standing room was available.
The concert began with the AHS Mixed Ensemble which included three selections played along with the AUSD 4th/5th Grade Choir and AUSD 6th Grade Choir. They were followed by the AHS Advanced Treble Chorus which also had three songs. Next, two selections were performed by the AMS choir.
After the intermission, the AHS show choir sang “I Hear America Singing,” “The Seal Lullaby,” and “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman. The AHS Combined Choir finished the concert beautifully with the “Bonse Aba.” The instrumentalists for the closing song were Ciara Salas Herzig playing the djembe, Olivia Snow on the tremle drum, and Ashley Borlodan playing the shaker.
“The fall concert at ABC had multiple highs and few lows,” said choir member Olivia Edmonds. “There were a few technical kinks, but the show ran very smoothly. Everyone did a wonderful job.”
The AHS Choral Department welcomed the new Choral Director, Ms. Jones, to the program. The AHS Boosters thanked Ms. Jones for bringing “...an amazing amount of talent, encouragement and growth to our program.” They added that she has already started to “enrich our children’s lives with [her] musical knowledge.” The students were quite thrilled to have her has their new director. “She knows how to make a choir work well together, keep focus, and create wonderful pieces that we are all excited to perform” said Edmonds.
